Ok thanks, is there a cut-off date for this? also will the TF2 and Cod4 tourneys be run in parallel or at different times i.e. will we be able to enter both? also what days are the likely to be on?

Re: LlamaLAN 10 - Team Tournament
sorry, should have put some smilies in
cut off date would be around the 17th of August I guess
although the sooner the better, from an organisation point of view

Re: LlamaLAN 10 - Team Tournament
Well this is going to sound really arsey I don't want it to but there you go im paying my money so I am entitled to an opinion.
The reason i am asking is more to determine whether there is anything in this lan for me if I know up front that there is defo going to be a good 3/4 teams ready to compete with each other at COD4 and/or TF2 then brilliant.
The Lan sells itself saying you choose the games and we did there was a huge demand for cod4/tf2 and yet UT2K4 is chosen im sorry but what???
If the Lan had advertised itself as being Llamalan2k4 I wouldn't have even looked twice, not once have I seen 2k4 onslaught mentioned on the forums as a game people wanted at the lan.

Re: LlamaLAN 10 - Team Tournament
I can understand why you and others will be upset.
The fact is, no matter which game we chose, a group of gamers would be upset. If we pick TF2, all the COD4 players throw their toys out of their prams and bitch and whinge. If we chose COD4, the TF2 players do the same thing.
UT2K4 is the next game on the list after COD4 and TF2, hence the choice. If you are only attending the LAN to play "your game", then there really is "nothing" in it for you.

Re: LlamaLAN 10 - Team Tournament
I wasn't planning on going to a lan just to play my favourite game but equally I wasn't planning to come to a lan to play just one other game that I dont really enjoy either, I can kind of see your logic behind picking neither of the above, but to have both tourneys in the same game seems a bit mad to me, I really expected it to be the case that we would just incorporate the two games and play each team once at each game, i didnt see this one coming at all, if the cod4 and tf2 tourneys are not set up prior to the event I don't see them happening we tried to get people interested in spur of the moment cod games last time and the most we ever got in one game was about 6.
Re: LlamaLAN 10 - Team Tournament
The collective LAN community picked the top three games, and all three games are getting support in officially created tournaments. I said more details were coming soon, so hold off worrying about who sets up what and when until then.
Re: LlamaLAN 10 - Team Tournament
My personal Thoughts is...
I was hoping for a COD4 victory, as i think that is a team game suitable for this LAN as last LAN we had TF2. But i can see what the admins had to decide i just thought they wouldn't pick a team that is going to be used anyway. There is other Team Games out there which could of been chosen instead of the same game that the 1on1 tounry is being used on.
Again i don't think this will "ruin" my LAN as there is going to be COD4 players even if it is only 5 or 6 of us like last time... we just make do.
The fact is i would of settled for a TF2 tounry instead of a UT2004, and if i knew this was going to happen i would changed my vote to TF2 making it uneven... and 11 to TF2.

Re: LlamaLAN 10 - Team Tournament
The problem wasn't to do with the vote, more to do with the whining on the forums about the games choices. We knew that people would complain regardless of our choice, so we went with something different, in the hope it would galvanise everyone into playing, rather than:
"I wanna play my game, whinge bitch moan"</unreasonable bastard>
As with everything, it is always the vocal few that cause the problems for the silent majority.
As Golem said, watch this space for info on the "organised" games

OK, where do I sign up ... looks like UT2004 onslaught with the Red Team ... I think Golem is fishing for an FTD TF2 team ... that just leaves CoD4 ... looking forward to the tournament signups opening
