Kustom Delivery to LlamaLAN 18

Post by GraemeKustom »

Hello once more!

I've still not managed to figure out the best way to write a greeting in 'llama speak' so we'll just do this the old fashioned way. *waves*

Moving on, this post is here to tell you about the useful delivery option we have to LAN events, and that's the checkout option added for LlamaLAN 18. This is good news on two levels - firstly, it means you can get stuff without a delivery cost, and second, it means your next event is imminent. :)

A useful point to browse from is the LAN Party store area on our site - http://www.kustompcs.co.uk/acatalog/LAN_Shop.html - this lists the most popular items needed for a weekend of LAN in one place, but the offer applies to anything online really. Ordering is simple, - submit an order by choosing the delivery method 'Delivery to LlamaLAN 18, 2nd Nov, Kent (£0.00)' during checkout. Note that you still need to enter your own address as normal (it's needed for card verification), and make sure to pick 'United Kingdom' for the country and 'UK Mainland' for the area, otherwise you won't see the relevant delivery option on the next page. We're assuming nobody travels from further afield, but well, even if you are, just pick UK Mainland for that part. :)

Make sure to submit your order by 1pm on Thursday 1st November.

Any queries, just pop a reply in this thread or email me directly (graeme 'at' kustompcs.co.uk)

Cheers =]

Thanks, and enjoy it :)

The added bonus to keyboards with the blue keyswitches, not only do you get to enjoy that awesome clicky noise, but people around you actually think you are typing faster. Anyone who sits near their boss at work should have one, it gives the impression you are working harder. Cunning plan, eh?

So recommendations for a sound card ... you had some awesome half price refurbishes Xonars at one point but I obviously wasn't fast enough ... not thinking of spending silly money but something that will show of my Roccat Kaves would be appreciated.

So it needs enough outputs for 5.1 over 3.5mm jacks, optical SPDIF out would be great for the home cinema, and it needs to be PCIe x1 ... thoughts?

edit : looking at some of the candidates, any recommendations based on experience?

I've had a good shot with the D2X before - and it certainly was a huge difference over motherboard audio, both in terms of surround performance (you would think this would be the same, but it's in a different league) and also that microphone quality is clearer and louder compared to the built in stuff. Loved the coloured lighting on each port, so handy for connecting up headphones in the dark to the correct plugs.

So it is win all round really, but with a bit of a price tag being the only downside.

Recon3D I haven't had a shot of the PCI-E sound card, although did get a quick try of the Recon3D Omega Wireless headphones, and they sounded terrific as well - again, compared to using, say, the Tactic3D version of the headphones with onboard or X-Fi based audio, the included Recon3D sound card made a massive difference, and BF3 was cinematic quality.

I don't think the X-Fi card is relevant now to be honest, it's older gen stuff now.

D2X is certainly desirable, but if the cost just feels bordering on silly, the Recon3D should still make an appreciable difference.
